Mammut T-Trail + Ambient Light Dry Bag

Mammut T-Trail + Ambient Light Dry Bag

Avid backpackers are like engineers, they’re always tinkering with their outfitting to find new ways to make their gear footprint smaller and more efficient. The Mammut T-Trail + Ambient Light Dry Bag is a nifty 3-in-1 piece of gear that manages to do something with a dry bag that we’ve never seen before.

At first glance, the Mammut T-Trail + Ambient Light Dry Bag seems like 3 pieces of gear that are already in your pack: a headlamp, a dry bag, and a lantern. The genius here is that Mammut figured out that if it could manufacture a translucent textile strong enough to serve as a dependable dry bag, it could pair with a headlamp and pull double-duty as a lantern. Genius, right?

The headlamp is Mammut’s super lightweight, 30 meter beam featuring an alternate 80-hour low power setting (handy for simple tasks around the camp at night). When paired with the Ambient Light Dry Bag, the two create a pleasant diffused lantern light suitable for cooking, reading, or playing cards (it’s suitable for many other activities as well, but we won’t get into those). Once the lights go out, the dry bag provides handy storage for your headlamp, or can protect other valuables if the weather turns.

  1. I would like to thank you for this information. I have reclntey used one of the Petzl Tikka Plus head lamps on my 21 mile backpacking trip I took with my brother and friends. There was four of us in our group and we all had different styles of head lamps but when it came down to it the Petzl Tikka head lamp that I was using was the most efficient and weighed the least. I found that a head lamp is a very useful part of my gear for we often found our selves setting up camp just at dark.
