Backcountry Boiler

Backcountry Boiler

Chimney kettles were originally made popular by Irish fisherman and WWII soldiers because they could quickly boil water with whatever fuel was lying around (twigs, leaves, brush, etc.), saving them the time and energy of having to carry around their own fuel source. The Backcountry Boiler is an ultralight update of the original chimney kettle that lets you purify or boil water for a meal in under 5 minutes with any fuel source you’d like.

Roughly the same size and weight as a wide-mouthed water bottle, the Backcountry Boiler can operate on nearly anything combustible. As long as you have tinder nearby, you can boil an infinite amount of water, and fast. The updated chimney kettle design pulls heat up through a column of air inside the boiler, bringing water to a boil in under 5 minutes.

It’s an incredibly eco-friendly tool for preparing meals or sanitizing drinking water, it saves you the endless expense of purchasing fuel canisters for traditional backpacking stoves, and seriously…who doesn’t want to show their friends how they can turn a pinecone in to a mug of hot chocolate on the trail?
